Fancy Hank's Barbecue Restaurant

We always come here to celebrate, and it’s such a happy place for us! The chicken wings are perfectly crispy and tender, the brisket is soft and full of flavor, and the brisket bean salad feels like the final evolution of bean salads! it’s just incredible! The staff are the sweetest, and the cool vibe always makes us feel so special. Can’t wait to come back!

We visit the Melbourne for 2days short trip. And I found this restaurant. The Hank’s platter was so amazing!! Start from devil’s egg, buffalo wings were so fantastic! Brisket was thick sliced but so tender and juicy. 3 sides - Mac n cheese, coleslaw, fries were perfect balanced with meat. I thought I visit Melbourne again for this slow cook brisket because of so satisfied tasting. Melbourne, you guys so lucky.

An unforgettable dining experience! Hands down, the best meal we've ever had. From the moment we walked in, the service was exceptional—our waitress (possibly named Natalie, apologies if we're mistaken!) was truly phenomenal. Her warmth, attentiveness, and energy elevated the entire evening. Honestly, she deserves five stars all on her own! Now, the food… wow. The chicken wings were next-level—crispy, flavorful, and easily the best we've ever tasted. Every dish was outstanding, and the atmosphere made it all the more enjoyable. We can't recommend this place highly enough. If you're in Melbourne, do yourself a favor and check it out. We'll definitely be back the next time we're in town!

Fancy Hanks was very filling, for six of us blokes each having the set menu, the amount of food that came out was adequate. Which is wroth mentioning because the number of times a whole bunch of people each pay full price for the set menu and then some arbitrarily small rip off amount of meat comes out, it's our pet hate. Fancy Hanks on the other hand did well and didn't seem to go stingy and try and pull a fast one only serving like 4-5 people's worth of food to six of us. As a result we were all SO FULL we couldn't quite finish everything on the table. And that is as it should be. Yes. That said, the chicken wings and ribs were good but average. The legs of lamb and beef brisket were by far the highlight. Next time I'll just order a whole plate of those and definitely the delicious special mac and cheese, which was to die for. The sides were adequate too, and presentation of the two flowered opening deep fried onions was a delight. The beer and liquor range also good. Good table service, not "Angus and Bon" cute attentive chatty waitress level of service by any measure but for what we were after, the service did good. Four stars.

On International Brisket Day, I had their brisket sandwich. They gave it away to the first 200 customers. I was lucky! They even included a drink card and a cheeky hot sauce sticker. Such a thoughtful touch. The meat was melt-in-your-mouth soft, tucked into a fluffy Martin’s Potato Roll. Each bite was pure bliss. Highly recommend.

One of the best in Melbourne a truly unique experience. Food is 10 out of 10. Staff were on point friendly and not ove bearing, atmosphere is 10 out of 10. Can not wait to head back and try some of the other dishes. We tried the platter 3 meats and 3 sides. For 2 of us. Good eaters. But we’re beaten !! And took some left overs home, The brisket was so juicy and tender, Ribs were best I’ve had since I was in the USA And pulled pork was fabulous. Sides we got were beans Mac and cheese and some fries. Wow just wow! The little chicken wings you get just prior to the platter coming out, OMG!!! AMAZING!! Can not wait to head back and try some of the other dishes

Great place to grab a spread of bbq food. The food portion was admittedly smaller than I thought. So I recommend ordering one main with a couple of sides. We enjoyed the meal together. I recommend getting the mac and cheese. Their homemade hard lemonade was also really delicious. Perfect accompaniment to eat with the meat. The location is also close to Her Majesty’s theatre, so it’s perfect place to grab dinner before your show
